M is for Murals
And, yes, while murals adorned the walls of ancient Egyptian tombs, beautiful scenes are still painted on walls today. This is part of a unique mural recently painted on Road 9 in Ma’adi – exceptional quality and colors – sponsored by The Ma’adi Environmental Rangers and designed by artists El Hamy Naquib and Mido. Most murals seen in the city today are painted on the walls of school grounds by students and staff. And hajj murals, painted on the walls of houses when a pilgrim returns from Mecca, are still popular in the villages of Egypt. You can read more about them in the Saudi Aramco article, Mural Celebrations.
